"Why allow reposting? Why not let ads to never expire in first place?"
Well, in my country, Olx have introduced the renew feature a few years ago and it is a huge success.
A user will list his ad for 30 days and when those 30 days are gone, he gets a email in which he is asked if he wants to renew his ad, to delete it, to edit it (all these from pushing buttons from email).
If he chosen to renew it, his ad will be activated for another 30 days and it will go on top of all standard ads. Each user has this option and this way, the ads rotate and gets the option to be see in the first pages of ads where most users will look (except search function)
If your category has 2000 ads listed for unlimited time and a user starts to look page after page, how much time will it take to reach the 2000 ad which may interest him? And from those 2000 ads many of them may be not available anymore since there is nothing to remind/force sellers to confirm that their listings are still up for sale. A simple but brilliant idea.

Olso, can anyone explain why do we have emails that notify the seller that his ad will expire in x days but offer him no option to extent the listing, renew it or do anything at all. This is unbelievable.
